After successfully upgrading from OSC 2 to the latest version, an osCommerce user was eager to showcase all seven of their products on the store’s homepage in a specific order. They had already installed the Products Global Sort addon, expecting it to control the sorting. However, instead of following the defined order, the homepage displayed products based on the New Arrivals list.
Determined to find a solution, the user experimented with different settings and, at one point, managed to get the All Products widget to display items correctly. Unfortunately, after making further adjustments, the setup reverted, and they could not recall how they had fixed it.
Seeking help from the osCommerce support team, they quickly found a solution. The team recommended adding the Featured Products or Category widget to the homepage. They explained that products could be sorted in the required order within the admin panel by adjusting category settings. To ensure the homepage followed the correct sorting order, the user needed to select "Marketing (as specified in admin)" in the category settings or global settings.
This experience highlights the flexibility of osCommerce’s customization options and the importance of understanding widget settings.
